Highwald is an investment firm backed by family capital to acquire and grow high quality, enduring businesses in the lower-middle market. We invest our own capital and seek to own businesses for the long term, partnering with owner-operators and management teams to provide supportive resources, or offering a succession pathway to an exiting owner. While we are industry agnostic, our family investing experiences span services, industrials, healthcare, and infrastructure. Our capital base lets us grow and own a business permanently. This helps us make long-term, strategic decisions to ensure a business and its people continue to grow, developing a strong company and culture.
Highwald was founded by Fritz von Guionneau. Prior to Highwald, Fritz was Co-Head of Direct Investments at Continental Grain Company, a 200+ year-old family-owned investor and operator of industrial and services businesses. He was responsible for leading new investments and partnering with portfolio companies in the industrials, consumer, and healthcare sectors. Portfolio companies and investments with which he was involved were Agile Cold Storage, Kinder's Holdings, as a Director on their Boards, Wayne Sanderson Farms and Ceva Animal Health. He also worked at Berkshire Partners, focused on investments in the consumer and healthcare sectors, and prior to Berkshire Partners, worked at Bain & Company. He holds an MBA with Distinction from Harvard Business School and a BA from the University of Oxford. Fritz lives in the Philadelphia area with his wife and their two sons.
